A Chemistry Major at CSE, Dr. Lux graduated from the Georgetown University Medical Center in 1964. Since 1968 she has maintained a private practice while also working in the out-patient department of the Community Mental Health Center in Washington, D.C.

During these years Dr. Lux also has been an Associate Professor at her med-school alma mater, teaching first and second-year medical students. In 1993 Dr. Lux received the Mother Xavier Award. That same year, she received the Exemplary Psychiatrist award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

Dr. Lux recalls her time at CSE "as four of the best years of my life." She learned "that when you've been given extra opportunities you owe something back to society. I grew up believing I could pursue any career I wanted, and that being a woman was not a handicap. St. E's reinforced that belief. Most important, I saw how the Sisters' relationship with God permeated and influenced all they did, and their example has been an ideal to attempt to follow."
