Security monitors access to our campus facilities. There is continuous 24-hour security coverage throughout the calendar year. Security at the Convent Road/Madison Avenue entrance observes incoming traffic, responds to calls for assistance from the campus community, and directs visitors to campus destinations for events. The Park Avenue gates are normally closed at 8:00 p.m. daily depending on campus events.
Beginning at 8:00 p.m. during the school year, all vehicles are stopped, the drivers questioned as to their business on campus and all information is recorded. After 1:00 am, vehicles without a proper parking decal are not admitted unless a campus resident is being dropped off or picked up.
If a visitor arrives after 1:00 a.m. to pick up a student, security must contact the student to inform them that they have a visitor. The visitor is allowed on campus for 15 minutes only. The driver's information is logged in at the gate and their driver's license is kept at the Gatehouse until they exit the campus. Visitors are not permitted to enter the residence halls after 1:00 a.m.
A mobile security patrol is also in effect seven days a week. The security group patrols the entire campus including non-residence building interiors and parking lots. During times of a Homeland Security heightened alerts, access to campus is restricted to the Convent Road/Madison Avenue gate only.
