Two Losers Share Winning Tips for Wellness at CSE Women’s Leadership Conference, March 22, 2013

Two of “The Biggest Losers” are coming to the College of Saint Elizabeth to share their winning strategies of how to live a healthy lifestyle with the CSE community. Jess Limpert and Ramon Medeiros, former contestants on the television show The Biggest Losers, will give the keynote address on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the CSE Women’s Leadership Conference of which this year’s theme is Healthy Personhood. The pair will share their personal and inspiring journeys to wellness, followed by a question and answer session. The event begins at 9:30 a.m., in Dolan Performance Hall, Annunciation Center.

After the keynote, there will be two breakout sessions. Time to Change Your Career will be presented by Marge Kelly, management consultant, CSE adjunct instructor, and retired MetLife vice president, and Linda Reed, vice president and CIO of Atlantic Health. They will talk about their chosen careers and the benefits attached to that. The second session is Selecting Your Foods Wisely: Tips for Healthful Grocery Store Shopping, presented by CSE graduate nutrition students Keri Lasky and Jacklyn Yacenda . Dr. Michelle Barrett, CSE assistant professor of psychology, will lead a yoga session and Marilyn Powell, a specialist in the Academic Skills Center, will demonstrate T’ai Chi Chih.

Limpert and Medeiros will lead two pre-Conference sessions demonstrating how to have fun while exercising in the gymnasium in Saint Joseph’s Hall on Thursday, March 21, 2013. The times are 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. The CSE students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate, so they should bring their sneakers!

Conference Preceded by Weeklong Events

There are two other events leading up to the Conference. If These Walls Could Talk is the title of the annual Sister Ellen Joyce Memorial Lecture, presented by Dr. Maureen O’Connell, associate professor of theology at Fordham University. She discussed the theological and social

significance of Philadelphia's murals to a packed flex classroom on March 18, at 7 p.m. in Annunciation Center.   

On Wednesday, March 20, Jean Semler, co-founder of ChangeALife Uganda presents Small Change, Big Difference: the Journey of Turning Passion into Action. It takes place in Ward Dining Room, Saint Joseph Hall at 11:30 a.m. CSE students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.
