Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Awards

CSE's Police Studies Institute held its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on September 22 in Annunciation Center. A crowd of students, law enforcement officers and families joined the honorees for this event.

President Helen J. Streubert welcomed the attendees and discussed the importance of holding such events. PSI Director William Schievella presented Hispanic Heritage Excellence in Justice Awards to Lieutenant Michelle Serrano of the Port Authority NY/NJ Police Department, National Coalition of Latino Officers President Antonio Hernandez of the Fort Lee Police Department, Corporal Edwin Santana of the Morris County Sheriff's Office and Hispanic American Law Enforcement Association President Jeff Rodriguez of the Jersey City Police Department.

Keynote remarks were made by Captain Inez Gonzalez of the Newark Police Department. Morris County Sheriff Edward V. Rochford and Jersey City Councilman at Large Daniel Rivera offered remarks to the crowd as well.

About the PSI

The Institute provides advanced leadership education for law enforcement and public safety practitioners and serves as a forum for public policy discussions for various community groups. The Institute also fosters the creation of a diverse professional work for New Jersey's law enforcement organizations.
