Murray strikes for three goals, CSE falls to SUNY Morrisville in lacrosse

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Saint Elizabeth senior midfielder Meghan Murray netted three goals on Saturday afternoon but the Screaming Eagles fell in their North Eastern Athletic Conference lacrosse opener at Soccer Centers to SUNY Morrisville by a score of 19-6.

Murray who led all of Division III lacrosse with 7.00 goals per game entering the game, found her way into the scoring column again despite frequent double- and triple-teams from the Mustangs (2-4, 1-0 NEAC).

Morrisville State generated early offense and held a 10-2 lead into halftime with a 21-8 shot advantage.

In the second half, CSE (4-2, 0-1 NEAC) got goals from junior mifielder Christina Rios and sophomore midfielder Dana Mortensen. Amanda Inacio also netted a goal for CSE.

Shelby Wood, Cassie Edmonson and Jessica Young each scored five goals for Morrisville State.

Barbara Beresova made 11 saves in net for CSE.

The Screaming Eagles are back on the Soccer Centers turf on Sunday, welcoming NEAC foe Cazenovia for a 1 p.m. draw.
