SOMERSET, NJ – Seniors Cassidy Crane, Jasmine Bristol and Dina Toledo each scored as the College of Saint Elizabeth topped SUNY Maritime, 3-2, in women’s soccer action on a sunny Friday afternoon.
CSE out-shot the Privateers by a margin of 17-13, and earned two corner kicks.
At 25:43, Crane was awarded her first career penalty kick. Winding down the first half, rookie Brianna Fedorich had a cross towards the goal as Bristol tried to tap the ball in. Maritime’s goalie, Meghin Paczkwoski, made a save but the ball bounced off Paczkwoski and Bristol was able to get the rebound, earning her first season goal as she hit the far right corner of the goal.
The Eagles led 3-1 at the half.
Maritime struck back in the second half with Kadie Hook scoring the second goal of the game. The Eagles held onto the lead with strong defense, dominating the remaining minutes of the game.
Catherine De La Cruz totaled 6 saves to earn the victory while Crane totaled six shots and one goal.
The Eagles travel to Wesley College on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 6pm.
