Tipton runs Eagles to ninth place finish

COBLESKILL, N.Y. -- The College of Saint Elizabeth women’s cross country team ran to a ninth place finish at the 2012 Steven A. Warde Invitational hosted by SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon in Cobleskill, N.Y. Saint Elizabeth totaled 250 points, just beating out SUNY IT for ninth place.

Leading the way for the Screaming Eagles was senior Shannon Tipton (Woodbridge, Va.)  who placed 50th overall with a time of 23:23.85.  Finishing close behind Tipton was former NEAC Runner of the Year, Brittany Hinton (Marlboro, N.J.).  Hinton placed 56th and ran the 3.1 miles in 23:53.18.  Mary Karkos (Princeton, N.J.) ran a time of 25:08.01 finishing in 69th place.  Barbara Beresova (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and Ann Marie Lanzilotti (Wantage, N.J.) finished less than ten seconds apart complete the race for the Eagles. 

Saint Elizabeth will be in action on Sat., Sept. 15 when they head to Penn State Abington for a 5k at 9am.
