The Screaming Eagles lost a hard fought battle to Lancaster Bible, 63-54 on Monday.
Both teams started off sluggish in the first half. The Eagles took an early 4-2 lead when Cheyenne Grant knocked down a jumper. CSE struggled to contain Aubrey Folger from Lancaster, who dominated down low, dropping 13 points and 9 rebounds in the first half. Ashley Pledger led the offense in the first half, dropping 8 points. Despite the Eagles shooting just 25 % from the field, they only found themselves trailing 28-22 at half.
The second half continued to be a struggle for the Eagles. Shanince Smith and Folger’s size continued to give the Eagles trouble. Lancaster opened the 2nd half by hitting back to back 3 pointers, opening up a 12 point lead. The Eagles wouldn’t give in however, quickly going on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 39-36. The Chargers, however, would never let CSE get any closer, going on an 11-2 run of their own, to go back up double digits. The Eagles continued to have problems stopping Aubrey Folger, who finished with 26 points and 18 rebounds. The Eagles continued to fight, but couldn’t mount another comeback, before falling 63-54.
Ashley Pledger finished with a team high 19 points. Kelly O’Dell added 8 points and 15 rebounds. The Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they host Bryn Athyn at 7 P.M.
