CSE Swim Beats Gallaudet, Falls to Cazenovia

The Screaming Eagles swim team defeated Gallaudet 133-128, before falling to Cazenovia 155-122 on Saturday.

In the first event of the dual meet, the relay team of Ashley Siscko, Alexandra Budd, Maria Corall, and Veronica Lubsen won the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:07.48. Budd continued to rack on the points for CSE, winning the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 20:54.22, besting second place by almost 20 seconds. She also added a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, just getting edged out by Laura Krasniqi of Cazenovia.

Maria Corall continued her dominate swimming, winning the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.94. Jennifer Scully also added a 5th place finish in the same event with a time of 2:23.83. Scully added 5 more points to CSE’s score with a 2nd place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:44.26. Corall added 9 more points for the Screaming Eagles when she won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.80. Despite winning 2 previous events, Maria’s most impressive win came in the 200 yard IM, when she posted a time of 2:26.99, beating 2nd place by over 5 seconds.

The most exciting event of the meet was the 50 yard freestyle when Veronica Lubsen was barely beat out by Alexandra Plivanchuk of Galluadet, posting a time of 27.92. Lubsen still added 5 points to CSE’s total.  Ashley Siscko posted her best time of the year in the 200 yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 2:32.98, good enough for the win.  Siscko also added a 3rd place finish in the same event, finishing with a time of 2:55.07.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they host John Jay at 6 P.M.
