Valient Effort not Enough in Loss

Valient Effort not Enough in Loss

Eagles fought hard on senior day, but drop a tight match 5-0 to SUNYIT.

In the first half, the Screaming Eagles fought hard on defense. Even though the Wildcats had the first 8 corners, the defense did not allow any shots on goal from them. The ball was constantly cleared, led by senior Nicole Rios.  On offense, Valerie Lasko once again led the attack. She managed to get 2 shots off in the first half, with one of them being saved by the Wildcats goalie.

SUNYIT was finally able to capitalize on a corner, when Samantha Hubinsky crossed it to Abbey Hanehan, who headed the ball into the net.  The Wildcats added 2 more goals before the break to go up 3-0 at halftime.

At halftime, Christina and Nicole Rios were honored for senior day. The twins have been starters for CSE for the past 3 seasons. The pair will be greatly missed next season.

In the second half, the Eagles kept up their strong defensive effort. Even though the ball was down their own side for a lot of the half, the Wildcats did not get many scoring opportunities.  The defense played together as a team, which was very aggressive in the second half. On offense, Briana Fedorich added a shot in the second half, and Lasko added 2, which were saved by the Wildcats.

CSE looks to rebound in their home finale on Wednesday at 3 P.M.
