Fedorich, Lasko shine as CSE falls to Wells College

Brianna Fedorich got the crowd going as she netted the first goal of the season for CSE. It was not enough however, as the Screaming Eagles dropped to the Express from Wells College 7-1 on Tuesday.

The Express got on the board early as Lindsey Bush netted a goal at the 19:29 mark in the first half. The Express added 2 more goals before half to go up 3-0 at the break.

CSE had opportunities early in the game as they controlled the ball for a lot of the first half.  The Screaming Eagles totaled 8 shots on goal in the first half, led by Valerie Lasko, who had 5 of them.  CSE’s keeper, Grace Bailey, lead the defense with 8 saves, 4 in each period.

Wells College continued on the offensive prowl in the second half as they added 4 more goals to ultimately end up winning 7-1. Heather Hiltbrand led the way for the Express as she netted a hat trick.

The Eagles shining moment came at the 11:31 mark in the second half after Valerie Lasko was tripped up in the box while attempting a shot on goal, resulting in a penalty kick. Briana Fedorich ended up sailing a penalty kick passed Wells’ keeper for her first goal of the season.  This was also the first goal of the season for CSE, who never gave up in a tight fought game.  The Eagles totaled 10 shots on goal in the game with Lasko shooting 6 of them.

CSE looks to get their first win of the season as the Eagles return to action for a home match Saturday against Cobleskill at 1 P.M.
