In the final home game of the season, CSE looked to get in front early. Things did not go according to plan however, when Courtney Bernecker put a shot passed Grace bailey, giving Wilson an early 1-0 lead. The defense stepped up after the early goal, led once again by Nicole Rios. Wilson only managed 1 more shot on goal in the half.
The Screaming Eagles had some scoring opportunities in the first half. Jessica Nunez led the offense with 2 shots, 1 being saved by the Phoenix’s keeper. Valerie Lasko also added a shot on goal.
In the second half, the defense continued to play in top form. Having the ball down in their end most of the half, the defense never gave in, constantly clearing the ball out of the zone. Wilson managed to score another goal when Nana Ama-Ohene Manu squeaked the ball passed Grace Bailey.
The highlight on offense came when Brianna Fedorich smashed a free kick passed Wilson’s keeper, resulting in her second goal of the season with 7:46 left in the match. Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to muster anything else, losing the game 2-1.
The Eagles play their last game of the season on Saturday at 1 P.M at Penn State Abington.
