Big Second Half Propels CSE

Down 25 at one point, the Screaming Eagles never gave up, rallying to beat Old Westbury 81-72 on Saturday.

CSE struggled from the field in the first half. Old Westbury jumped out to an early 21-11 lead half way through the first half. Cheyenne Grant led the Eagles in the first half, knocking down 14 points on 6-9 from the field. Late in the first half, Old Westbury put together a 12-3 run to open up a 48-28 lead. CSE could not contain the Panthers in the first half, trailing 49-33 going into the break.

The second half was a totally different ball game for the Eagles. The Eagles stormed out of the gate, going on a quick 8-2 run to pull to within 10. Grant continued her 3-point barrage in the second half, knocking down 5 more to get the Eagles to within 66-63. Danesha Triplett dominated down low, grabbing 14 of her 18 rebounds in the second half.  Alivia Roseboro knocked down a 3 point with 6 minutes left in the game, to give CSE their first lead at 70-68. The Eagles forced an incredible 20 turnovers in the second half and held Old Westbury to just 25% shooting from the field. CSE never gave up the lead, beating Old Westbury 81-72.

Cheyenne Grant finished with a season high 30 points including 7 3-pointers. Danesh Triplett tallied another double-double, finishing with 14 points and a season high 18 rebounds. Kelly O’Dell also grabbed 15 boards.

The Eagles have over a month off before returning to action on January 11th vs. Cazenovia at 1 P.M.
