Digging into the past can be rewarding, just ask CSE alumna Marilyn Kelly-Buccellati (pictured, right). At a Lunch and Learn event, the accomplished archaeologist shared her journey from CSE to ancient excavation sites around the world.
An understanding of the past promotes full comprehension of the present and expectations for the future. The study of history affords students better analytic and reasoning skills, research abilities and tools for clear expression. Courses in History draw from both American and regional history, providing perspective on global events and an understanding of the human factors influencing them. Minors are available in both History and Political Science.
Students will gain a broad understanding of historical events, as well as the analytic tools to evaluate materials from other eras. They will develop research and writing skills necessary for effective implementation and communication of their endeavors.
A degree in History is a perfect vehicle for a career in teaching, law, or government service. Many of our graduates have also gone on to post-collegiate studies in History or related fields.
“I like the feeling on campus at CSE…when you go outside, it’s beautiful. I love the trees and the campus setting. It feels like home.”
