Kelly O’Dell posted her first double-double of the season, posting 10 points and 12 rebounds to help the Screaming Eagles defeat Cedar Crest, 71-53 on Tuesday.
The Eagles got off to a fast start in the first half, shooting 50% from the field on 17-34 shooting. Coming off honorable mention for player of the week last week, Danesha Triplett continued her stellar play, dropping 12 of her 14 points in the first half. Once again, the defense was the catalyst in the first half. The Screaming Eagles held Cedar Crest to just 27% shooting on 7-26 from the field. Cse also surrendered just 15 points, a season low for a half.
Up 25 at the break, the Eagles kept the pressure going in the second half. Sharolin Sanders added 11 points off the bench including 2 baskets from beyond the arc. The defense forced 24 turnovers, marking the second straight game they forced over 20 turnovers. The win was a total team effort as 10 different Eagles scored, giving the Eagles the 71-53 victory.
The Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season and return to action on Saturday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Gallaudet University at 2 P.M.
