COBLESKILL, N.Y. –- The College of Saint Elizabeth swim team placed third overall in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming & Diving Championships on Sunday. The Championships were held at SUNY Cobleskill in upstate New York and events took place Friday through Sunday.
Saint Elizabeth (4-5) had top finishes in two individual events and one relay for the final day of championships. Maria Corall finished first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.97. Veronica Lubsen placed fifth, while Mary Karkos and Alesandria DeSapio finished in the final two spots. Karkos had her best swim in the 100 yard freestyle, taking three seconds off her best time.
Mary McChesney finished sixth in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 23:15.37, gaining nine points for the Eagles. Kristin King finished second overall in the 200 yard backstroke, swimming just under 2:25.0 and teammate Ashley Sicsko placed fifth. Jennifer Scully, placed second in the 200 yard butterfly with a personal best of 2:40.10. The Saint Elizabeth 400 yard freestyle relay quartet consisted of Lubsen, Shannon Tipton, King and Corall placed second behind the NEAC defending champion, Wells College with a time of 4:02.93.
The Eagles finished with 348 points total. Wells College was crowned first place winners with a total of 534 points and Cazenovia College placing second with 480 points. Gallaudet University picked up fourth place (280) and SUNY Cobleskill placed fifth (236).
