The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team dropped a pair of games at Wilson College, 9-1 and 8-5 on Thursday.
In game one, the Eagles got on the board earlier when Valerie Lasko scored on an error, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Eagles couldn't hold the lead for long as Wilson tied up the game in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Phoenix added a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning before adding 3 more in the bottom of the 3rd. The Eagles struggled at the dish, failing to get a hit through the first 4 innings.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Kayla Sullenberger hit a 3 run home run for Wilson, giving them a 9-1 lead. The Eagles were unable to get any base runners in the 5th inning, losing the game 9-1. This marked the third time this season the Eagles failed to get a hit in a game.
In game 2, the Eagles again got out to an early lead behind an RBI single by Christina Scolaro. Wilson took the lead right back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring 2 runs and taking a 2-1 lead. In the top half of the second inning, Lasko ripped a triple in the gap, scoring both Julie Rodriguez and Alesandria DeSapio. Lasko would come around and score on the next play when Scolaro reached on a fielder's choice. The Eagles would hold 4-3 lead until Wilson tied it up in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, Wilson scored 3 runs off Danesha Triplett, taking a 7-4 lead. The Eagles would add a run in the top of the 7th inning when Chirstina Scolaro drove home Valerie Lasko with an RBI single. The Eagles could not muster any more runs home, dropping the game 8-5.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host Gallaudet at 2 pm.
