CSE tennis falls to neighbor FDU-Florham in home opener

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Saint Elizabeth duo Amy Cooper and Chiamaka Nwangu picked up a victory during doubles action on Wednesday afternoon at the Convent Courts against non-conference foe Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham.

 The Devils won the overall match, 8-1, for a second consecutive victory of CSE (0-2) to start the season.

Cooper and Nwangu, playing in the No. 2 doubles position, topped FDU-Florham’s Jennifer Epstein and Michelle Berkenstock by a score of 8-4 to pick up a team point for the Screaming Eagles.

Later in the afternoon, Cooper was entangled in a competitive singles match in the No. 3 spot. However, FDU-Florham’s Gabriella Vitiello prevailed by scores of 7-5, 7-5.

The Screaming Eagles travels to Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. North Eastern Athletic Conference match. On Sunday, CSE will be back on campus for a 1 p.m. match with Cazenovia.
