O'Dell selected to NEAC Third Team All-Conference

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2012 Women’s Soccer All-Conference selections, with first, second and third team honors being awarded by position to a total of 33 student-athletes, as selected by the conference coaches.

The NEAC has also announced its individual women’s soccer award winners. Lancaster Bible College sophomore midfielder Monica Horning (Lititz, Pa.) has been selected as the NEAC Player of the Year after an outstanding season for the Chargers.  Horning registered 47 points on 19 goals and nine assists, which placed her second in the conference in all three categories, while her five game-winning scores were the most in the NEAC.  Horning, who won two NEAC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week awards this season, had three hat tricks on the year and scored a goal in nine of the Chargers’ 12 conference contests.

Penn State Berks claimed the rest of the individual awards, starting with sophomore Savannah Cramer (Wrightsville, Pa.) being selected as the NEAC Goalkeeper of the Year.  Cramer barely let anything get by her all season, as she led the conference in goals against average (0.54) and save percentage (.887), with those numbers jumping to 0.27 and .914, respectively, in conference play.  She also had four shutouts and 63 saves with a 13-2-1 record in regular season play while being selected as the NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week three times.

Penn State Berks freshman forward Sara Conover (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) was selected as the NEAC Rookie of the Year after a phenomenal first season for the Nittany Lions.  Conover led the team in points (46), goals (19) and assists (8), while also being tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with three.  Conover brought the offense all season, scoring at least two goals in five contests while scoring four goals in two separate contests, with one of those performances landing her a NEAC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week award.

Penn State Berks head coach Adrian Munteanu was selected by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year after leading the Nittany Lions to a perfect season in conference play with an 11-0-1 record, while going 13-2-1 overall.  Penn State Berks will host the NEAC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament this Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4.
